Compare and contrast each stage of mitosis!

Comparing and contrasting each stage of mitosis is like comparing apples to oranges. It is inappropriate. Instead, Ill give you a simple discussion about it.
Mitosis occurs in body cells. It produces 2 diploid daughter cells, meaning the daughter cells have the same amount of chromosomes as the parent cell.IT is divided into four stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase, or known as the PMAT stage.
- Prophase - the nuclear envelope starts to disappear. The chromatins have also condensed into chromosomes. The centrioles now begin to move to the opposite poles of the cell.
- Metaphase - the chromosomes are now at the equatorial region of the cell called metaphase plate. The chromosomes are aligned here, with spindle fibers from the centrioles attached to them.
- Anaphase - the cell now starts to move toward the opposite pole. The chromosomes are pulled apart by the retracting spindle fibers.
- Telophase - the cell now forms a cleavage which eventually separates completely. If the cell is a plant cell, it forms a cell plate which eventually seals up into a cell wall. The nuclear membrane starts to reappear and the chromosomes loosen up into chromatin once again.
